Welcome to the Banjo Paterson High Country Trail

The Banjo Paterson High Country Trail offers the visitor an entirely different High Country experience.  It is not about winter skiing, ski touring and snowboarding or summer mountain biking.  Neither is it about hiking and bushwalking, although it could be combined with some of these popular pursuits. 

Most, but not all Banjo Paterson’s best-loved poems either referenced High Country locations, or were written in the High Country or feature High Country characters. 

Banjo had an uncanny way of capturing the spirit of the High Country and of the age in which he lived and wrote. What better way to combine enjoyment of Paterson’s poetry than to read it in situ in the High Country where the Bard found his inspiration for some of his early and formative writing?
